Heard of Sephora? Ever find it intimidating? PLEASE DON’T. I call it a woman’s Candy Store a.k.a. Playground. I lose my marbles every time I walk into the store as I somehow will exit later with at least an item in my hand! We are all lucky folks, because Sephora here does not only carry high end brands such as MUFE, Givenchy, Guerlain, Laura Mercier, Mario Badescu, Peter Thomas Roth, and etc., but it also has its own private label and some really affordable brands like Soap & Glory and NYX. Oh, I heard you; you just do not know where to start, right?
The very next time you see Sephora, walk in and do yourself a favour. Find Soap & Glory corner where you can see many cute, pink-coloured packaging. Pick up one of their star product “Flake Away”, and proudly make your payment. Then give yourself a pat at the back, for this is the beginning of your journey to having flake-free skin.
Do not be misled with the picture that shows a pair of beautiful legs, thinking that this scrub is only for your legs. Which crazy brand does that? Use this all over your body, targeting on the knees, elbows and shoulder. Every time I use this scrub, I get smooth and soft skin with very slight sheen – so smooth that the skin at my lower bum area feels like baby’s bum, so soft that I would sometimes HARASS myself by touching my smooth skin. It is like brand new skin, provided I layer on body lotion after bathing! My bathroom will be filled with a strong, sweet peachy scent, and because I like peaches, I feel awakened and happy! Talking about the bum area, it does NOT reduce cellulite, mind you, BUT the area around your bum will be smooth that you just want to shake your booty, baby!!!! *dance*
There are a few things that I need to share with you regarding this scrub. Although it has very small granules of sea salt that looks fairly fine and the scent may appear pleasant to some, I do not recommend this scrub to any pregnant ladies. If soon-to-be-moms tried this, you could only blame yourself for the major itchiness that you would need to endure very soon after that. Now when I step into the bathroom, I will ALWAYS scrub my body first in circular motion. I massage my body DRY, and I only add some water on my cupped palm so that I can continue massaging for another good 5 to 10 minutes before washing it off. Then I make it a point to continue bathing with my regular shower gels/creams/soaps. I NEVER use body scrubs as my last step, and it is a must to wash off the remaining bits of salts from my body by using shower gels/creams/gels. To have a lasting smooth effect on the skin, remember to apply body lotion/cream/oil after that.
This “Flake Away” scrub has already been a staple item in my bathroom for more than a year now. I lose count on the number of times that I have repurchase, and I believe it is worthy of its price (the last I checked, it was RM59)! One more thing, if you find this scrub good for you, and if you want to get another product from the same brand to compliment this scrub, consider getting The Righteous Body Butter (which also comes in smaller size) as your body lotion to be used after bathing.
Have you tried it yet? Have you found love in body scrubs from other brands? Let me know!
With love,
LY
