Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Coquette and Femme Fatale /Provocateur

If you have read my previous post about Revlon Kissable Balm Stains (reviewed here), and you are heading to get your hands on those, just make sure you get the Right One. Recently launched Colorburst Lacquer Balms are now available in local pharmacies, and the packaging looks so similar with the Balm Stains’.

When Colorburst Lacquer Balms were released, I thought “Come on, how do these differ from Balm Stains?”, so I did not put much thought about them until  I saw these two shades – Coquette and Provocateur a.k.a. Femme Fatale. At that very moment, I just had to have them!

I am not going to dwell about the packaging again since these Colorburst Lacquer Balms are housed almost identical with Balm Stain’s. I did not notice any difference on its scent and tingling sensation, either; however, with these, I can choose to wear it sheer or otherwise as the shades are BUILDABLE.

Although these are slightly more hydrating on the lips DURING wear time compared to the Balm Stains, I did not get a noticeable glossy finish that most lip lacquers provide. These Lacquer Balms, somehow, speaks CREAMY to me. Anyhow, I am happy that as these fade slowly, my lips are not parched and do not have much stain for me to remove later.

Which one did I wear better? :-p

The Colorburst Lacquer Balms are currently being sold for RM35.90 at major pharmacies, do check them out already!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Review

Awhile ago, I shared my initial experience about lip lacquer (reviewed here) and today, I have the affordable and popular balm stains from Revlon that does on thing a lip lacquer does – leaving a stain on the lips after few hours when the lip colour fades  away. I am going to share with you today Rendezvous and Valentine, also known as Sweetheart.

No.040 Rendezvous; No.025 Sweetheart/Valentine

No.040 Rendezvous; No.025 Sweetheart/Valentine

The giant crayon packaging basically represents the colour of the product, and it comes in a twist up tube. I like that the idea of not sharpening the tube, but I can’t help but to wonder how someone with very thin lips would apply this once the precision wears down.

Referring to the above swatches, these balm stains are quite opaque as they show up full colour in merely one or two swipes. I noticed a slight minty scent when the tube was placed near to my lips. That being said, the minty scent does not linger long once applied. It is important to also note that these give a slight tingle on the lips for a few seconds, which may or may not be one criterion that one would want in his or her lip products. Living up to its name, these balm stains go on smooth and shiny without being too-glossy like how a lip balm does, but they last as long as 4 hours before the shiny appearance wears off entirely.

When I touch up with these stains, I am happy to see smooth and shiny look again as some lip products may lead to lip peels during touch ups due to its formula. These balm stains are not drying once removed and the remaining stain does stay put for HOURS. I found only eye and lip makeup remover or cleansing oils could remove the stains properly. To have an even stain effect, a well-exfoliated lips is needed. I have been quite lazy with that actually, so I have been having inconsistent stain effect around my lips.

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t complain much since each of these is priced at RM 35.90. You ought to try at least one of these, so head over to the nearest major pharmacies now!

Elite Models UV Base Pure Light

Hey love,

Do you use any makeup primer/base to help your foundation to stay longer? There are many available in the market, and nearly every brand that carries cosmetics would have at least one primer. I have used some, and sometimes I find that makeup base is not necessary. Only sometimes! That being said, if any tinted makeup base does not work well with my foundation, I would not mind at all as long as it does not cause me breakouts or hug on the dry patches on my face because I could use it alone with some loose powder, and I am good to go!

This, in particular, brings us to Elite Models UV Base Pure Light that I got from Watsons for RM 28.72 per bottle. This makeup base has only 2 shades – Pink 01 and Purple 02, and I have the lighter shade to share with you today.

“Enriched in Aloe and Licorice, this Protective UV Primer moisturizes, lightens and gives a beautiful glow. Oil-free.”

Pink - to give a glow/healthy appearance while Purple - to correct yellow skin tone

This UV base comes with moderately high UV protection – SPF30 to protect the skin from UV rays, which contributes to dark spots and sunburn. Although the formula is oil-free and the texture is light, it does give my skin a dewy look instead of semi-matte that was printed at the back of its packaging. Despite its shade classification, this UV base does not have a pinkish tint, but rather yellowish-peach.

See the micro-glitters?

I could see the micro-glitters that makes my skin look healthy!

I could see the micro-glitters that makes my skin look healthy!

See how watery the texture is? It makes blending easy, and I like that this base leaves my skin looking smooth and radiant, thanks to the micro-shimmer that is not very visible on the face. On the arms and hands, on the contrary, is a different story. When I first spread the base on my hand, I was gutted by the loads of micro-shimmer, but after I apply it on my face, I like the glow that it gives. My face does not feel tacky or greasy at all, but I do need to powder my T-zone after 4 hours. This UV base is also moisturizing and does not hug on my dry patches around my T-zone area. However, I would not encourage anyone skipping their usual moisturizer or sunscreen and treating this UV base as an all-in-one product! Please do not ever do that. Makeup base or primer is makeup, not skin care.

I got this bottle during sales, and it is best to watch out for sales because you get to purchase any product that you would like to try or restock as you are paying lesser. Hence, that makes you a good consumer, woot woot!

For that price, I have nothing to complain because I can use this alone and still look healthy even though I was a little unimpressed with the results when I apply this before my regular liquid and cream foundations.

Have you tired this makeup base? Have you tried any that you like?

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks Advert

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks Advert

When I saw Revlon’s new Super Lustrous lipsticks available at our local pharmacies, I decided to give it a try. I do not know what has gotten into me as I have never used any lip products from Revlon. Maybe it was Emma Stone – that beauty with the bright shade on her lips. All I remember was a voice telling me to buy that shade – Rich Girl Red. Then I saw Fuchsia Shock, and I picked that up, too. I wanted to see if these shades would be rich enough or would surprise me in any other way.

See the swatches below:

The cool-toned fuschia pink. Left: 1 swipe; Right: 5 swipes.

An orange-based bright red (not a classic red, though). Do you think this red is RICH enough for you?

See the iridescent shimmer and a soft shine in both shades? If these swatches appeal to you already, wait till you apply them on your lips. If you are familiar with the formula of Lancome Rouge in Love (Asia Version; Made in Japan) or Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour  (Limited Edition), then you will enjoy these. As I apply them on my lips, they went on smoothly as the formula has some slip to it. The initial sheer application made my lips feel light and soft, but after building up the pigmentation on my lips, the lightness would settle for a usual, medium weight lipstick.

Okay, I look FAR from Emma who wore the exact same shade *roll eyes*, but this "red" shade is so wearable for beginners who like orange-based reds.

Yesterday I posted a review about lip balms with the pigmentation of lipsticks, but today it is the other way round. These Revlon lipsticks are of lip balm texture, so ladies with dry lips will enjoy these lipsticks and they are so comfortable on the lips. The best part of all is that building up the colour still gives you some shine and moisture (due to the slip) as though you have healthy lips!

There are 8 shades available now at our local pharmacies – Honey Bare, Pink Cloud, Kissable Pink, Fuchsia Shock, Lover’s Coral, Rich Girl Red, Berry Couture, and Plum Velour. For RM32 each, I would not grumble even though I had to reapply these lipsticks every 2-3 hours. I got mine with a discount during the sales,so I paid only RM28 per piece. If there were no stock available for any of the shades that you would love to own; fret not, just head to the nearest SASA store to get them. ^_^

Have you tried any Super Lustrous lipstick from Revlon? Which shade looks better on me – Fuschia Shock or Rich Girl Red?

With Love,
